If I Were Boss of the World...

Don't Do ANYTHING until you speak to me.

I've just returned from the local Walmart and...

Well, why don't I just let you read the feedback that I submitted at Walmart.com...

I just returned home from picking up a few things at my neighborhood Walmart store (location deleted) in Fort Worth, TX ...and I'm STILL fuming mad. Let me tell you about our experience at the check-out.

My wife and I used the "speedy" check-out lane because we only had a few items to purchase. There was only one customer at the check-out already, as we lined up behind them. We waited in line as the cashier spoke to the first customer about EACH item that she scanned. This was a little irritating to us because my wife needed to use a bathroom and was in a hurry to get home.

After the first customer was finished, the cashier allowed another customer that arrived then to step before us to buy cigarettes. We STILL waited patiently. The cashier messed up the scan of the cigarettes and locked up the register, so the rude hurried customer left in a huff, leaving our cashier with trouble and looking for someone to help her fix her machine, not even mentioning to us that there might be a short wait, which would have been appropriate at this time.

My wife then left to use the store restroom because it looked as tho' we would be there longer than we had hoped. The customer service person ( I guess y'all call them CSM) arrived to fix the problem with the register. I was hoping to hear some polite word from her, or the cashier, to tell me what was going on then. No acknowledgement was made to me. Then my wife returned to tell me that the restroom was too FILTHY for her to use.

The CSM left the register to get some keys or something, she didn't tell us what was going on, but left us guessing as to whether it would be fixed or if we should move to another lane. The cashier stood there and ignored us. The CSM returned, fixed the register, then turned to return the second customer's cigarettes to the shelf, the cashier turned away from the register, to follow the CSM, talking and STILL ignoring us, the customers. I interrupted them to ask if they were indeed ignoring us for some reason. I repacked my items into the cart and had to leave to another register in order to be able to go home.

We tried to make use of your "speedy" check-out, but it took us 26 minutes from the time we walked into the "speedy" checkout line, and when we finally left the store.

I have to tell you that I've taken the time to write this, and I'm still fuming mad. Why is this incompetentcy allowed to go on.

Why is this slooooow woman working the "speedy" check-out lane? Why aren't there more cash registers open on a Saturday afternoon? C'mon. there were only a few registers open out of the many this store has. Why didn't the CSM or the cashier acknowledge to us that there would be a short, or long, wait?

Why weren't the bathrooms clean? I've been in there myself once or twice, and they were filthy then, too.

Why, when we've been there in the evenings, were there more carts than the cart corrals can contain, and they are spilling out into the drive lanes.

I've got a lot more questions about the functions of this store, but I'll try and hold to these few at this time.

Meanwhile, I really do wish you could do something about the lack of respect we get as customers at this store.

ps: I bet that the CSM who was there to hear my wife tell me that the restrooms were filthy didn't do anything about them, and the next time we're there, they will still be filthy. How much would you like to bet?

If I were Boss of the World... these people certainly would not be allowed to ignore the customers, that's for sure.

i go through the same problem: poor customer service in big supermarkets like TESCO and Jusco. i dont think they were taught good customer service skills in their training.

I'm with you on this. Getting anywhere near the Wal-Mart where I live is just murder on my sanity. I'm at the point where it's not worth the few bucks I'll save to go grocery shopping there.

Part of the problem is Wal-Mart itself, but a lot of it has to be the rude people who shop there. I always see people drop carts on people's cars (including brand new ones) and then leave, and I fear for my life whenever I go through the cross walk there. A crazy lady in a van literally almost mowed me down once as she drove through a very clearly-marked STOP sign.

I won't get into the strange people who carry a cart to move a box of cupcakes and a lightbulb or how infuriating it can be to watch someone with two cart-loads of stuff try the self check-out.

If you hear back from Wal-Mart, I hope you'll post their response here:)
